Club EMAS, the Catalan association of organizations guaranteed by the European certificate of Eco Management and Audit Scheme, EMAS, has acknowledged the progress achieved by EMTE Service for the Gran Teatre del Liceu with the EMAS Catalonia Award for the best environmental plan for 2011.
The organization, which receives the collaboration and support from the General Directorate of Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Territory and Sustainability, awarded the Liceu’s “2009-2015 Action Plan for energy saving and efficiency”, in which EMTE Service was responsible for 50% of the renovation project to the cooling system.
Having become a model of reference, this plan has reached and consolidated the planned saving and energy efficiency targets. Over the last year, electrical energy has been reduced by 26% (2,152,000 kWh/year) and emissions of harmful gasses have been reduced by 389 tonnes of CO2. In economic terms, this represents a saving of 190,000 euros.
With this award, COMSA EMTE has consolidated its position as an Energy Services Company (ESC).
