08/06/2018 – The joint venture Boscos del Vallès (with COMSA Renovables participating with 93%) began their activity by supplying biomass to the boilers installed at Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST) and at Servei d’Activitat Física of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB). Likewise, it will also be responsible for selling forest chips to the towns and other boiler owning entities of the district that register as users after the concession has begun.
The boilers of CST and UAB are considered part of the “Boscos del Vallès” project promoted by the County Council of Vallès Occidental and initiated in 2013 for the purpose of assessing and exploiting forest biomass as a fire prevention measure. Its primary objective is to reduce the risk of forest fires by promoting the purchase and sale of primary forest biomass, a locally produced market for thermal uses.
Another advantage of this initiative is the reduction of CO2 emissions as a measure to fight against climate change, promote renewable energy and promoting local development and job creation.
On the 24th and the 30th of May, the Manager of the joint venture Boscos del Vallès, Raimon Mariné, signed two contracts with the representatives of the County Councils of Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa and Campus de la UAB, respectively. At these same acts, Mariné received the keys to both installations.
