Opening of the new M-206 motorway in Madrid

On 22 July the new motorway connection between the Madrid municipalities of Torrejón de Ardoz and Loeches was opened to traffic, a 5.3 kilometre section built by COMSA on the M-206 road. The motorway will improve traffic safety and congestion for the more than 13 million vehicles using it each year.

In order to solve the traffic problems, the Community of Madrid awarded COMSA the contract for widening the section, a project valued at 42.3 million euros, and which was implemented in conjunction with Corsán-Corviam. The new infrastructure will become a backbone for municipalities in the Henares Corridor, benefiting 250,000 inhabitants and easing one of the roads with the heaviest traffic in the whole region.

The president of the Community of Madrid, Ignacio González, was in charge of opening the new motorway, in a ceremony also attended by the Deputy Regional Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Housing, Borja Caravante, and the Director-General for Roads, Iván Maestre, among other authorities. Present for COMSA were Jaime Mulet, CEO of the Infrastructure and Engineering area, and Jorge Fernández Renau, representative from the Northwest, Central and Southern Civil Works Division.
