Port de Tarragona has signed an agreement with COMSA Rail Transport, DP World Limited, one of the world’s largest operators of marine terminals and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, with the aim of establishing a business society between the two institutions.
The aim of this agreement is to launch a comprehensive service that will improve railway connections for the clients in the area of influence of the Tarragona port as well as to provide maintenance for logistics services. The project will create efficient railway corridors from the Port de Tarragona to principle points of interest.
The first corridor to be established after the agreement will be the Tarragona-Madrid line, which will start operating during 2012. This railway service
between the two cities will run four times a week, thus increasing competitiveness in freight transport.
