The Metro Ligero Oeste (Light Metro West) wins an award for promoting sustainable mobility

The Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM) has given the Metro Ligero Oeste de Madrid (MLO) an award for promoting public transport and sustainable mobility, through a CSR educational project promoted in conjunction with the Environmental Education Classroom of Pozuelo de Alarcón Council.

The initiative has been in operation since 2007 among schools and special education centres in Pozuelo and Boadilla del Monte, and aims to promote a culture of sustainability within the educational community in the area. The project revolves around three lines of work: encouraging sustainable transport, road safety and environmental education and integration of groups at risk.

The MLO president, Juan Osuna, was responsible for collecting the award on 13 January, in a ceremony held at the Civil Engineers Association in the capital, which was attended by the Managing Director of CRTM, Jesús Valverde, and the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Housing for the Community of Madrid, Pablo Cavero, among others.

The Metro Ligero Oeste in Madrid, the construction, operation and maintenance of which is managed by a company which forms part of COMSA EMTE Concessions, connects the municipalities of Boadilla del Monte, Alcorcón and Pozuelo de Alarcón with metro, local trains and bus networks in the Community of Madrid.
