COMSA develops a system for the intelligent evacuation of buildings in case of fire

COMSA’s technical department has developed an intelligent system that calculates the fastest and optimal route for vacating buildings and facilities in emergency situations due to fire.

The program allows the location of the area where the fire originated and, through a combination of sound and optical signals, discernible regardless of the thickness of the smoke and darkness of the area, presents the occupants with the appropriate escape route that is closest to them. The indication system is also adapted for blind people, facilitating their evacuation without the help of third parties.

In this way , it solves the problem of traditional fire evacuation systems based on visual aids and single escape routes, which can become unusable if the fire originates in that area.

The R&D project led by COMSA and co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, within the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011, has already been tested successfully at the Collblanc Station on Line 5 of the Barcelona Metro.
