COMSA Corporación continues to expand its presence in Latin America. The group has recently been awarded two rail projects in Mexico: the rehabilitation of La Mata – Colonia Jordan section of the Tehuantepec Isthmus Railway for an amount of 25.3 million euros and the renewal of the Light Train track between the Azteca Station and Xochimilco in Mexico City for 12.7 million euros.
The company will rehabilitate 33.5 km of railroad of Tehuantepec Isthmus Railroad of Mexico, a key infrastructure for the development of the south east region of the country. The project, which lasts 11 months, will be developed in the section between La Mata and Colonia Jordan.
The works consist of the rehabilitation of the track, including the complete replacement of the superstructure, consisting of a ballast track with monoblock concrete sleeper, elastic fixing and 115RE rail.
Likewise, a new platform will be built in the sections where the improvement of the route is planned. The group will also carry out the maintenance of the complementary structures, stabilization of slopes, gutters and the necessary sewerage and drainage works, as well as the installation of signaling for the correct operation of the train.
Moreover, COMSA Corporación has also been awarded the specialized track maintenance for a section of the Light Train in Mexico City, between the Azteca Station and Xochimilco. This is the comprehensive renovation of 7 km of double track which will also rehabilitate the platform and the drainage system, among other actions, with the aim of restoring the operational and safety capacity of the Light Rail line.
The contract includes the supply, installation, factory and on-site tests of the required materials and components; as well as operation training and commissioning of the maintenance service. In 2019, the group already carried out specialized maintenance of the section between the Taxqueña terminal and the Estadio Azteca station of the Light Rail.
Presence in Latam
COMSA Corporación has a consolidated presence in the Latin American market, where it executes works in Brazil, Peru, Chile and Colombia. In Mexico, during the past year, the company built a double track section in the Port of Veracruz and carried out the maintenance of the track facilities of Line A of the city’s Metro, among other works.
