The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Arousa has awarded COMSA the contract for the second phase of the project to extend the railway network from the port to the container terminal, located on the Ferrazo dock.
The work, to be implemented over a period of eight months, will allow completion of the Port of Vilagarcía rail link, which will be accessible from all of the docks. In fact, COMSA has already completed the first phase of the project, with the arrival of the line at the Comercial and Comboa quays, in the southern zone of the port.
Ferrazo is currently the busiest dock in the port of Vilagarcía. According to the Port Authority, during 2014, 45% of the port’s goods passed through Ferrazo or its extension.
The joint venture, led by COMSA, was selected from a total of eleven bids competing for this tender.
